Frequently asked questions
Do participants need an email address?
No. That's the whole point. Most Secret Santa generators force everyone through an email signup so the site can market to you later. ElfDraw hands each person a private reveal link you can send by text, WhatsApp, Slack — whatever you already use.
Can I exclude couples from drawing each other?
Yes — add them in the exclusions box as Alice - Bob. You can add as many pairs as you need; the shuffle guarantees none of them ever match.
Can we do this at the office with 30 people?
Absolutely. The tool handles 100+ names. For big groups, the one-device reveal gets slow — use the private-link mode and text each person their assignment.
Is this really free?
Yes, no tiers, no watermarks, no "premium shuffle." The tool is a static page; it costs us pennies to run.
Do you store our names?
No. There is no server. The names never leave your browser — you can disconnect from the internet after loading the page and it still works.
Can I reuse it for White Elephant or Yankee Swap?
The draw tool is the same — for White Elephant you usually don't need assignments at all, just turn order. Many groups use ElfDraw to assign turn order fairly.
